Additional Services

Wiebold Studio recognizes that for purposes of insurance, appraisal and family history or inventory, some additional documentation is sometimes helpful. We are happy to offer these services to our customers. If you require similar services that you do not see listed, do not hesitate to ask. We may be able to offer this service or refer you to an appropriate specialist.

Before and After Photographs/Images - $18.50

Wiebold Studio conservators will document the condition of your antique with at least two images before restoration and at least two images after repair or restoration. Images will be provided on a CD in a standard electronic format.

Painting Condition and Treatment Report - $125.00

At your request, Wiebold Studio conservators will photo document the condition of your painting with at least two images prior to restoration and at least two images after restoration. They will also provide a detailed report outlining the procedures used during the restoration and thoroughly document the cleaning, mounting, in-painting and framing of the painting. This is document serves as an excellent complement to auction and/or appraisal papers.

Appraisal Service - $60.00

Wiebold Studio does not appraise the items it restores. However, we can provide appraisals through Forsythes' Auctions. Forsythes' Auctions provides written appraisals of your heirlooms and special objects. Clients can request replacement value or insurance value.

If you select a different appraiser, and he or she requires access to the item while it is at our studio, we are also able to make arrangements to accommodate that need.

Special Note: As you consider conservation services, if the value of your item is a factor in your decision whether or not to restore, we encourage you to secure an appraisal. We are often asked by our customers if it is "worth it" to restore an item. Wiebold Studio does not appraise items, and we strongly caution you against selecting a conservator who offers a value judgment on your precious item. We believe it is a conflict of interest for a conservator to estimate the monetary value of an item. We are happy to make referrals for appraisal service to ensure you have confidence in the objectivity of the appraisal.
